"Anything that you put inside your body, is good enough to put on your skin!" - Anonymous.
And when I find this anonymous, I am gonna cut him to tiny pieces, and then disintegrate him into atoms. And them mesons may be.
Just the way I chopped down the bananas.
You all know how I recently got a haircut and am determined to keep it silky and touchable. In my quest to attain the star like gorgeous hair, I am into hair masks now. Also, always having been the home-remedies-girl, I am experimenting treatments on acne too.
*Kidding about the acne. I am yet again going through a bad phase of acne and I whole heartedly attribute those monsters to changing weather. Nut meg + honey on my face now, if you care to know*
So yea, I came across many posts stating how banana + honey on your hair will surely give you shiny locks that will make Shilpa Shetty run for her money. *Move over, Shetty. Namitha is here 8) *
Banana being my favorite fruit *no pun intended* , I happily chopped them down and mashed them into a puree. *Gobbled down almost half of it, but that is for another post* Who doesn't like banana puree now? Obviously, bananas don't.
Well, then I added in two table spoons of honey and slathered the gooey mess to my hair. I let it sit for twenty minutes and went to shower.
And then began, my agony of gooey banana. Apparently, water, being the universal solvent, fails at dissolving the banana (and honey mess)
I tried spraying water with turbulent speeds that my shower could withstand. Alas! The mess still remained there adhered to my poor hair. Then I tried combing it away. Nope, didn't work.
There I stood, banana on my head, despair in my head, half emptied bottle of shampoo and funny smelling bathroom.
As a last measure, I poured in loads of conditioner and jet sprayed + combed away the gooey mess which was slimy by now, thanks to dear old conditioner.
SUCCESS!!
The bigger and smaller chunks went away. *SIGHHH!!* I was left with slimy hair which I washed away with loads more of shampoo and followed up with conditioner. Even with all the conditioning, my hair lost all moisture and looks drier :( I know it because it was so much better the last time I oiled and washed. Oh, FYI, I applied this goo on already oiled hair, so you can imagine the horror if it was on dry/damp hair!
Now you might think I hadn't pureed it enough. WRONG. It was thin enough to drink and thick enough to stay on hair. I HAD PUREED IT RIGHT DAMMIT!
Also, my hair felt like straw before conditioning more.
Such a waste of a ripe banana. And honey.
Oh!
Moral of the horror story is - NEVER put banana puree on your hair :\ Or better yet, before you put anything, think about how you'll wash it off. Chemistry might help here.
Who else thinks a baby's drool is gross? *No matter how cute they look when they drool. And isn't it grosser when they throw up that curd like thing? Okay sorry, I didn't mean to disgust you :D :P *

- Very Tiny Atoms DON'T imply easy to wash atoms.
- Slimy things don't always make you feel good.
- If it looks gross, it probably is.

DeleteGood post! My husband always says "Food should stay in the kitchen and in the fridge NOT on your face or head or in the bathroom!" He's always worried when I watched or read some beauty tips that involves food in any way, LOL! He caught me scrubbing my body with coffee beans and left the bathroom smelling like coffee shop!
