Olay Total Effects 7 in One Cream + Serum Duo Review

These days I am positive that Bangalore has definitely become the capital city for dust. I mean seriously? So much of dust and pollution, I sometimes wonder if I should use Surf Excel instead of a pretty face wash, you know. My face gathers up so much dust, I am sure it's thickness is around 1.98 inches. I can feel the grit on my face. #Eww. Imagine having super think creams on face? I might as well make a bed of dust -_-

So on days like this when all I need is a light moisturizer, Olay is my savior. I received Olay Total Effects 7 in One Cream + Serum Duo from BlogAdda.com :) Me and mommy used it enough for me to put up a review now ;) Lets move on to the review now shall we? :)

Why is Total Effects Cream+Serum Duo Right for you?:
This is Total effect's most concentrated moisturizing formula with SPF 15. It combines the Total effects moisturizer you love PLUS an intense serum to fight 7 signs of ageing.
 1. Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
2. Balances and evens out the skintone
3. Reduces the appearance of age spots.
4. Smooths and evens out skin texture.
5. Provides nourishing moisturisation
6. Reduces dullness and gives skin radiance
7. Minimizes the appearance of pores.

The cream+serum duo comes in a plastic casing and pump up mechanism. A little product gets dispersed everytime, so no wastage. The cream is almost white, with a golden tinge and smells fabulous. It spreads easily on skin and there is absolutely no tugging of skin observed.

Does it do what it claims?
Yes, it does. It definitely evens out skin tone and skin texture. It also provides skin radiance. But to me, it gives acne :( It broke me out initially, and I thought it will go away with usage but well, not really. It is clearing up my skin on one hand, but breaking me out on the other. I just wish that didn't happen. It didn't break out mom though. It's my super sensitive skin that breaks out for almost every product, and it's sad that Olay is one :( Keeping the pimples aside, my skin has definitely gotten better. There is lesser dullness, and my skin feels supple.

It gets oily after like 3 hours, and gets sorted with blotting paper. It contains an SPF of 15, but I still use my HG sunscreen :)

Now, appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and age spots are topics on which I can't comment. Mom used it , and found okay results. It didn't break her out, skin texture, tone is seen :) There was visible skin radiance too. About the age spots, it was an okay result. They did lighten a little, but nothing dramatic. Same with the wrinkles and fine lines. I guess with regular usage she might experience a better result, but for almost a month, it was an average result.
So overall, it's a decent anti aging moisturizer if your skin ain't cranky like mine.

Let's quickly list the pros and cons!
Pros:

  • Improves skin texture
  • Improves skin tone
  • Gives skin radiance
  • Economical - a little goes a long way
  • Didn't break out mommy - dry skinned
  • Moisturizes well
  • Contains SPF 15
Cons:
  • Broke me out - super sensitive oily skin
  • No dramatic improvement in fine lines and wrinkles department. I shall update you on that though! :)

I would rate it a 3.5/5 -0.5 for breaking me out, and -1 for fine lines and wrinkles

Have you guys used it? Liked it? No? Shoot a comment ;)
