Hey there! :)
Before I go MAD in this boredom, can you guys suggest me some REAL good sitcoms?! Something along the lines of Gossip Girl? I am bored out of my brains! >.< Movies? Books? Anything interesting! *Sigh*
OK! :D
Now, here is my first experiment in the kitchen. Lets call it Season 2 :D You see, I am a decent look, I started in my last summer vacations with basics 8) Now, I am moving on to doing things without mom/granny giving me nonstop instructions about how many spoons of what.
And I am doing pretty good 8)
Couple of days ago, I wanted to try a simple curry that would go with rotis, as well as rice. Lets call it Red Hot Yummy? ;)
Before I start off, lemme apologise for the lack of pictures.I was lazy to run up a floor to my room to get the damned camera to kitchen.I wasn't sure of it turning out to be great.
So, here I have made a collage of ingredients, which will hopefully make it a lil helpful :)
Let us start off now, shall we?! :)
Ingredients Required: (Makes for 3)
2 medium sized onions - finely chopped
4 juicy tomatoes - chopped
2-3 green chillies - finely chopped
A spoon of Garam masala
A spoon of red chilli powder
A spoon of sugar
1/2 spoon Cumin seeds
1/2 spoon Mustard seeds
Cooking oil
Curry leaves
A pinch of Turmeric
A pinch of asafoetida(hing)
1/2 spoon garlic paste(optional)
Salt to taste
Time required: approximately 10 minutes if the onions, tomatoes and chillies are chopped and ready ;)
How to create The Red Hot Yummy? ;)
1. Take required amount of oil in a pan, heat it.
2. Add mustard and cumin seeds.
3. Add the chopped chilli and curry leaves followed by asafoetida. Now is the time to add the garlic paste if you want to :)
4. Add the chopped onions and fry until golden brown.
5. Add the chopped tomatoes. Sprinkle required amount of salt. This helps soften the tomatoes faster and also to get the tangy flavor.
5. As the tomatoes start getting softer, keep mashing them to make pulpy, and also to increase the gravy.
6. Add a pinch of turmeric, required amount of red chilli powder and garam masala. Be careful while adding red chilli powder, you have already used chilli, you don't want it too spicy.
7. Add a spoon of sugar. This gives a twist to the other wise tangy gravy.
8. Mix and mash everything until it blends well.
9. Allow it to cook for like 5 minutes after you take the pan off the stove.
10. Garnish with coriander.
Serve with rotis, chapatis, or rice. It also makes a delicious spread for sandwiches ;)
And later, say, "Yummmmmm!! ^_^" and thank me ;)
Really :D
Its a freakin' delicious dish and is healthy too :) The tomatoes give in that tangyness and onions give the nice crispy feel. Super easy to make and multi purpose. Not saying because I made it :P
Its My Dad Approved.
He is a picky, picky guy when it comes to food :o
That must be enough persuading to make you try it ;)
Lets look how bloody yumm it looks :
Makes me hungry! *Sigh*
Do guys, try and lemme know how it worked for ya ;)
Oh and I did an abstract nail art recently :P Was inspired by a photo a friend shared on my wall :)
Do tell me how you like it :)
PS: The images used in the ingredients collage are not mine. Have been Google-d. I don't claim any ownership.
Miss me ;)
Love,
Namita ♥
