Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Exfoliating Face Scrub Apricot and Real Neem Face Wash Review

So yours truly finally consulted a dermatologist for the acne and is on a strict regime for skin care and has has been made to swear off skin care products that aren't okay-ed by the said derma. Hence, the lack of product reviews that are skin care related. *sigh* The joy of confessions :D

But before I became my dermatologist's slave, I was sent this combo of Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Exfoliating Face Scrub Apricot and Real Neem Face Wash. I was using these products right before I was sent on a boring exile of funny smelling gels and plain boring ointments with scary titles.

This was a fun activity #twiceasnice where I was supposed to team up with a fellow blogger and I did, with Divya Gowda of Boardroom Chic who is a dear, dear friend! :) You should totally visit her blog for fashion guidance on work wear, this girl knows how to set the office on fire ;) Oh and she also writes fiction, and so good at it! So let me tell you my views first, and then also what Divya thinks about these products :)

Both the products come in travel friendly tubes with flip caps. #NoSpillage

The face wash is pale green in color and smells like neem and no, it doesn't put you off. It contains real neem and tea tree extracts. It smells soothing enough for summer, I likes. It claims to fight germs, fight pollution and also remove oil.

Neem and tea tree are one of the powerful ingredients in tackling pimples. I could do a PhD on being acne free :\ In my experience, its been a decent product. I didn't see any break outs or skin irritation because of the product. It cleanses well and the skin feels fresh. I have acne from the age of 15 and it hasn't really budged away. In my opinion, if you have severe, persistent acne, you should go visit a derma, its worth the effort. If you don't have a condition like that, then this product is lovely for every day use. My sister who has dry skin uses it regularly and it has kept her skin pimple free.

The scrub and me on the other hand, is a never ending love story. I am like freakin' addicted to it. Since I have oily skin, scrubbing for me is super essential. I scrub my face every alternate day and I use this scrub. Its very mild on my irritable skin and definitely smoothens it. Its not abrasive so my usually sensitive skin doesn't act up on using it. For those of you dealing with acne or sensitive skin in general, this scrub is definitely worth a try. The exfoliating powder which is derived from apricot seeds is mild on the skin, I promise. It does leave back a little slippery feel which I personally don't like, so I follow the scrubbing with a cleanser. I am already on my third tube now, I have been using it before the samples were sent.

I would give the face wash a 3.5/5 and the scrub a 4.5/5.

The face wash costs Rs. 90/- for 100g and the scrub costs Rs. 115/- for 100g.

Now, here is what Divya says about the product :)

Garnier Pure Active Neem face wash :

The hot weather is here which means one needs to get rid of the makeup, pollution, sweat. My skin type is normal and tends to get slightly drier near the nose. And I hate summers ..grrr ( Just thought I ll squeeze in that remark ). I have a set choice of face washes that I use and I have remained loyal to them for 3-4 years now. So  Garnier Neem face wash was a total alien product to my skin and guess what ..My skin seemed to like it **happy dance** .

Why I Like it :

  • Claims of Real Neem extract and Tea tree oil extract
  • Soap-free
  • Lathers well
  • Cool sensation upon applying
  • Budget friendly
  • Gentle yet powerful cleansing wash to awaken the skin
  • removes excess oil and yet hydrates the skin well
  • A small amount goes a long way. So value for money
  • Haven't had any breakouts from the time I am using it

What I don't like about the product:

  • It hasn't cleared any of my previous acne marks
  • Draws attention to my dry spots if not moisturized soon after face wash ( but I am anyway dry skinned. I mentioned that already. So its not a con of the product really)

Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Exfoliating Face Scrub

I have heard good reviews of this product from my friends. But unfortunately the experience was slightly average for me.

Why I like it :
  • Creamy consistency with minuscule granules. So, it doesn't abuse the skin.
  • Removes the last speck of dirt. The city skin needs this, trust me.
  • Gentle on your pocket and skin.
  • Real Apricot extract.
  • Full marks on the quantity. Value for money.

What I don't like about the product:

On Certain areas of my face, I experience a tad bit burning sensation when I apply it - but the feeling persists only for few seconds. And I haven't experienced this  with any other product used on my skin. Huh !  that sucks right ?!!

Verdict : I rate the face wash a 4.5/5 and the scrub a 4/ 5.

So guys, this is what we think. Go give these products a try and let me what you think. While you are at it, drop in by Divya's blog and let her know what you think too!
